Working for ZTA meant also working with collegians. The organization puts on several leadership development workshops as well as award ceremonies and excellence initiatives throughout the year. I was right there at all of them, capturing b-roll, interviewing chapter leaders and members, and generally praying that I got all the shots I needed when we got back to edit. The best parts were getting to have a little fun with it. Choosing GIFs and capturing laughter and being a part of the super-charged event planning that comes from the efforts of amazing sorority women. This particular video is about the Crown Chapter Award.

As part of an educational initiative to help better understand the organization, I executed an animated typography video about its "Nine Key Values." From scripting to recording to the iconography and the animation - I did the whole thing.

Inspired by a few of the Nine Founders of Zeta Tau Alpha and "The Mystifying Picture," the educational team of the organization created a leadership style quiz and guide for collegians to engage with and learn from. As part of that initiative, we made pamphlets and buttons and stickers. At the office, we got to choose our leadership style and sport the swag of it. I made this video in conjunction with those efforts (that's even my voice in the recording).

Part of video editing is collecting and using a b-roll bank. For this quick project, I relied on that bank to curate and string together an informational video about the organization's national philanthropy. Mixing together interviews from across the country and b-roll taken at a variety of October events, I was able to produce a cohesive final project.

For a time, I worked with the International Office Archivist, Patti Cords Levitte, to create short or medium-form videos describing small parts of the organization's history. We shot in the beautiful Historical Education Center (commonly known around the office as "The Hec") and I worked with her to script them, shoot them and dig up archival photos or other necessary b-roll to tell the stories.

Even while teaching in Kansas City, I was able to remotely freelance for ZTA after my time there. My connection to the brand and organization was still very strong, and I was sent a script and told to use creative freedom to animate images and record it, editing it together for alumna to enjoy. I also got really good at the newly required hand-made closed captioning (Vimeo doesn't have a CC service, so we had to animate that on our own in order to remain inclusive).
